Riding Among Us: Remembering Allan Jackson

There are moments in any sport that remind us how precious — and fragile — life is. For our randonneuring community, the passing of Allan Jackson is one such moment.

Peter Leiss recently shared a Toronto Star story about Allan. He was a fellow cyclist, someone that Peggy and Peter had the pleasure of riding with. Tragically, Allan passed away while riding to see his doctor. Earlier that day, he had been shoveling snow and felt unwell; on his way to the appointment, he apparently suffered a heart attack.

Although we may not all have known Allan personally, his story speaks to us all — as cyclists, as friends, as members of this community.
